The Lie We Lived In is a suspenseful Korean BL thriller that blends mystery, deception, and romance into a tense psychological drama. The story follows Seo I Do, a contract killer sent to a secluded house to eliminate his target, Heo Dong Hwa. Just before completing the mission, however, his boss unexpectedly changes the orders and instructs him to keep Dong Hwa alive and captive instead.
The situation becomes increasingly complicated when Chu Tae Jeong, a cheerful and friendly stranger, arrives for a week-long stay that had already been arranged with Dong Hwa. In the confusion, Tae Jeong mistakes I Do for Dong Hwa’s brother, who supposedly left for the United States years earlier. Rather than correcting the misunderstanding, I Do assumes the false identity in order to maintain control of the situation and protect his secret mission.
What begins as a simple deception soon turns into a dangerous game of lies. I Do initially tries to keep Tae Jeong at a distance, but his plans are disrupted when he discovers that the seemingly harmless visitor is actually a detective searching for answers. Forced to live under the same roof while hiding the truth, the two men become entangled in a web of secrets, suspicion, and growing emotional tension.
As Tae Jeong moves closer to uncovering the truth, I Do finds himself increasingly drawn to him.
